Care Instructions
Keep away from water and sunlight or any heat sources. If it melts, just mix it up a little and put it in the fridge for at least 1 hour or until solidified. For best result, let it solidify in a shaded area on its own.
Use within one year of opening, though, we think it'll be gone much quicker than that.
Avoid mixing the tallow balm with water as it can cause the balm to spoil faster.
Do NOT eat (as tempting as it may be). For EXTERNAL use only.
One 2oz bottle can last up to 3 months if applied only to the face and neck, and about 1 month if applied everywhere else.
Here's why we made this balm...
Beef tallow has been used as a natural moisturizer for many generations. It has been used to help a wide variety of skin conditions, ranging from dry skin to eczema. One reason why it has been used for so long is that it works.
Our goal with our balm is to help anyone with stubborn skin conditions with a simple, handcrafted solution.
This balm is perfect with all skin types: dry, normal, and oily as well as sensitive skin.
The Fatty Acid Composition is Similar
The fatty acid composition in beef tallow and human sebum is similar meaning that the beef tallow will be easily absorbed into the human skin and won't clog the pores (non-comedogenic).
The most prominent fatty acids found in both human sebum and beef tallow are palmitic acid (30.1% and 16% respectively), as well as oleic acid (15.8% and 47% respectively).
Palmitic acid is a saturated fatty acid commonly used in cosmetic products to help retain moisture in the skin. In humans, palmitic acid also is decreased with age, which is why beef tallow can help promote younger-looking skin.
Oleic acid is a monosaturated omega-9 fatty acid that helps to replenish the natural moisture of the skin, helps protect the skin from environmental damage, and balances the oil production helping to prevent future breakouts.
Both palmitic acid and oleic acid have been found to greatly benefit the skin.
Non-Comedogenic Ingredients
We chose argan oil and tallow in our balm because they both have a non-comedogenic rating of 2 or less, meaning there's an extremely low chance that it will clog your pores.
This is important for people with sensitive skin who often suffer from acne and other skin conditions. Non-comedogenic products are designed to be gentle but effective, providing desired results without irritating your skin.
Both tallow and argan oil have been shown to treat and reduce the symptoms of multiple skin conditions such as psoriasis, rosacea, acne, atopic dermatitis, and many others.
Beef Tallow contains vitamin A, D, E, K, and B12, which means it is amazing for your skin. It works as a natural sebum, locking moisture and nurtrients into your skin without clogging it. These nutrients helps repair the human skin and protect it from damages.
Argan oil also contains many antioxidants such as vitamin E, helping with hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and sun damage. On top of all that, We discovered that this combination of tallow and argan oil was the smoothest and easiest to apply to the skin without the greasy texture from using your over-the-counter lotion!
